On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at 12 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Fuel Cell Technologies Office (FCTO) will present a webinar titled “Center for Hydrogen Safety (CHS): A Global Resource for Hydrogen Safety.” During this webinar, Nick Barilo of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) will provide an overview of the CHS and how it will help the global hydrogen energy transition and enable sharing hydrogen safety information and best practices across multiple industries, including the transportation, industrial gas, energy and manufacturing industries.
Building on decades of hydrogen safety experience, FCTO, PNNL, and various global stakeholders partnered with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers to establish the CHS. The CHS is a nonprofit entity, intended to be recognized as a global, neutral resource. This resource supports and promotes the safe handling and use of hydrogen across industrial and consumer applications in the energy transition. The CHS will facilitate access to hydrogen safety experts; develop comprehensive safety guidance, outreach and education materials; and provide a forum to partner on world-wide technical solutions.
Participation in CHS ensures that groups of experts have a common communication platform with a global scope to ensure safety information, guidance, and expertise is available to all stakeholders.
